karen: an interview

Well, I really really love that blog: MishaLuLu. Karen and the rest of the family talk about their everyday life, fashion, hobby etc etc.
Let's read what Karen says to me:

Me. I have tagged your blog into my bookmarks with the tag " kids / lifestyle ", if you'd give only one tag to describe your Misha Lulu, what term would you use?
(because you talk about what you live and what you find on the net with an accent on childhood)
Karen. " our fantasy world ".

Me. What is the triggering reason that makes you create a blog?
Karen. We wanted to share our lives and inspiration.

Me. Today do MishaLulu's project can be considered part of your daily job? If so how many time has elapsed before that could happen?
(I've seen you got a very cool site for your activity and your products - what starts earlier, the blog or the fashion project)
Karen. The Fashion project is a 24/7 job and we work day and night, we stopped once Bela comes home to eat and to do homework and have fun with her, then the blog happens when I have few minutes or when I see Bela looking cute or doing something fun, also when I am looking trough the internet and find things that inpire us.My husband also helps me finding interesting things. I need to start giving him credit I think.

Me. Tell me a little bit about the process of researching inspirations for your graphics, where do the ideas come from?
Karen. I love to look at old books, some of them I have since I was a child and I also find them in garage sales, Thrift stores, etc.
A lot of it comes from our memories too of our childhood, our wild back yard full of creatures and trees, what we loved or we did and Bela's day to day activities.
I like to see also other designers collections but mainly our collections are very simple in silhouettes but more intricate on a theme for the graphics.

Me. How many hours do you dedicate to the blog daily/weekly?
Karen. 3 hours.

Me. What does a typical day at work involve for you?
Karen. Wake up, call the seamstresses, call my friend who does errands part time, eat breakfast with the family, dress Bela, answer emails, maybe write a blog, then the whole day is rush rush rush, meeting deadlines. The creative part is the smallest part it happens all at once like in about 2 weeks, the rest is production and stress.

Me. Do you collaborate with mag or other blogs? If so, which one?
Karen. I would love to collaborate with more magazines and sometimes I send items for them to see but I don't want to overwhelm them and get them bored. It is very special when they contact us randomly like you did or finding a blog about us , that is so very special!

Me. How many time do you dedicate by reading other blogs?
Karen. That is a ritual that happens every single day for about 20 minutes.

Me. What tips can you get to someone that will start a blog?
Karen. Just be yourself! and DO IT! Don't worry about a camera, I don't even have one, I use my phone. Share about your life and give a positive message always.

Me. Which are your favorite blogs by the moment? What tag describes them in a better way?
Karen. This is a very hard one to answer there are so many I love but I will mention the ones I visit the most,
Family and crafty: Cakies, Giddy Giddy
Creative: Bloessem, Smaller
Peace: Frolic
Fashion: Garance Dore and The Sartorialist

Me. What are you looking forward to?
Karen. I am looking forward too more of an organized life and be able to live of what we do and do the things we love to do surrounded by family and friends. I hope my writing is ok, because English is my second language.

Lovely answers, lovely blog, thank you Karen.
